Bike Shop Blogs
I spend a lot of time nowadays reading other blogs, mostly about bikes. What else is there to do when you’re at work right? A few of the bike blogs that I check are from actual bike shops and I thought I’d share a couple of them.
Velo Cult is a shop in San Diego. I haven’t made it down to their shop yet, but it’s on my to-do list. They’re always going on road trips and taking some amazing photos, of bikes of course. One of my favorites is this trip to the Sierras. Oh yeah, they’ve got their own bike museum to drool over. They have some snazzy wool jerseys too, and if you’re lucky, they’ll have them back in stock some day.
Hiawatha Cyclery is shop in Minneapolis that builds some cool bikes. I found them through the Surly Long Haul Trucker/Cross Check group, where Jim is a frequent contributor. He frequently builds up some very nice LHTs and Cross Checks. One of my favorites though was the Pugstigator.
Here’s a new one. I just found Monkeywrench Cycles today. I was watching this Rapha video and saw their logo. I had to search them out and I wasn’t disappointed. They seem really into vintage mountain bikes, and like Velo-Cult have some beautiful bikes on display. Check out their page full of vintage mountain bikes. I hadn’t seen this magazine since I was a kid. My pops used to have a subscription to it I think. I should find out if he still has his issues. Maybe they’re worth something. Hmmm.
