Salsa Casseroll Fenders Finished!

by Errin on March 8, 2010

I received the final part that I needed last week, and set about finishing the install of the Velo Orange fenders on my Salsa Casseroll. I had run into a couple problem with the front fender, so I had to wait a L bracket. You can get caught up with part 1 here and part 2 here.

The first step was to drill two holes in the fender for the L Bracket. I was a little nervous about doing this, but it went pretty smoothly.

Holes drilled and bracket mounted.

After installing the bracket, the fender mounted up very easily. I had to make a couple adjustments to the get the fender even on both sides, but it was pretty straight forward.

Here’s a pic of the fenders finally installed. They look really good and I’m very happy with them.

What do you think?

It’s not fair Errin. You and the others (well mostly you) accuse me of being a narcissist. And then you get away with taking your own picture like this.

I recently had a mishap with my SKS fenders on my Casseroll (see link to blog), and am considering a set of VO’s. What width fender did you go with? 37mm? Do you notice the fender squishing at all when the brakes are applied? I believe my brakes are the Tektro 538′s (2009 Casseroll Triple). Are yours the same/similar? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks for reading! A randonneur from Madison too! My friend Bruce, also a randonneur, is from Madison and hopes to do a brevet there this summer. Check out his blog here.

I’ve sold my Casseroll, and I don’t remember what brakes they were, but they were just the stock ones, so probably the same as yours. I do have the problem of the fenders affecting the brake on my Kogswell, which is setup similar to how the Casseroll was setup. It’s a problem with wide fenders and sidepulls. I’m actually considering having another fork made with Canti-Posts to get around it. I can’t remember the width that I have. I’ll try to measure them over the weekend. I have no need for mine anymore, so if you want to buy some used ones, let me know.
