Organ Donation Awareness Month
Today’s post is a different one. There is no talk of bikes, or travel. It’s a plea for help. April is Organ Donation Awareness Month, and my wife needs one. She’s suffers from a type of Liver Disease and will most likely need a liver transplant at some point in her life. However, there is a shortage of organs so she, and many others, have to wait for a very long time before an organ can become available.

There is an option, called Live Donor Transplantation, which we have looked into. I volunteered to donate a portion of my liver as soon as I learned about it. I’ve been tested thoroughly, and while I’m in good health, my liver is not an option for transplant due to the size and layout.
So she waits and waits until a good match becomes available. I am listed as an organ donor on my license but that is not enough. I wish that I could do more, but it’s out of my hands. I hope that you would consider the gift of organ donation, both for her and for everyone else that needs one.
