So we spent Saturday doing some touristy things, but things that I’ve never done, even though I grew up here. Funny how we take some things for granted. I now have an idea of how my Aunt’s feel when we visit them in San Francisco and Mariposa.

I did manage to get in a group ride on Sunday morning before a bbq with the in-laws. We rode up to the helipad at Chantry Flats for the first time. It was worth it, and we all agreed that the helipad is the new top. I only took this one pic from the iPhone. I was slacking off in the photo department.

After Chantry we headed towards Pasadena along the foothills and did some more climbing. It was a great route, and was only marked by a flat on the way home. I’m wearing out my tires! I think that I’ve logged about 1000 miles on the tire. So I’m kinda proud of that. In the past I would’ve had to install new tires because they cracked from not using them. Now I change them because they are worn out! That’s an awesome feeling. Gotta keep ‘em turning.

It’s so interesting to me how much they affect our views and surroundings. Most of the time they look something like this. However, this pole was strange. It stands all alone, and is “clean” compared to most. I guess they don’t need much in this area.

A 3K is a nice way to start the morning.

After the walk my nephew and I went down to the water to play. Kids and the ocean always seem to make for good photos.

I’m using a VIO POV1 mounted to my helmet.

I saw Lance for probably a total of 2 seconds, maybe 3. After the loop we rode some dirt roads out of Griffith Park and then headed into work. I’m on my Surly LHT and my friend Bruce is on his Rivendell Bleriot. I can’t figure out how to allow the video to play here, so click the video and it will play from my smugmug. Enjoy.

I hadn’t been to a car show in quite some time. Mostly due to riding bicycles. I was looking forward to seeing some cool rides, and I wasn’t dissapointed. Here are just a few photos.

I’m a sucker for wagons. This one was very cool. I wish my commuter was this nice.

Another wagon. This car comes to the regular meet. It’s my favorite one.

Car guys always come across cool things. This guy was riding around on this bike. He told me it was a dumpster find. It was an AMF Hercules. Appeared to be made in England, but rebadged as an AMF.

It had a Sturmey Archer 3-speed hub.

The car show was fun, but the bike was my favorite thing. Funny how that happens.
