I wish I was on the Kern right now. Standing waist deep in the water trying to catch some fish. Can’t think of a better place to be right now.
The campground is set in a flat next to the Upper Owens. One of the drawbacks is a lack of trees. However, this makes for some amazing stargazing at night and for some great sunrises in the morning.
Summer time in the Eastern Sierras means alot of weather changes. The lightning strikes cause fires, but the storms that bring them can be very nice to look at. We were lucky enough to watch a storm over Mammoth travel Southeast from us. The contrast of the afternoon sun and the storm made for some great photos.
After getting some local info we headed over to Rush Creek. I’ve driven over this many times and never noticed it. Usually late in the day is a good time to fish, but we were skunked again. Oh well, there are worse places to be.
After about an hour we decided to head back. We had a good walk back to the truck so I tried to hitch a ride. I would have kept driving too if I saw this on the side of the road!
Finally back at the truck we were rewarded with a nice sunset. A perfect ending to another day.
